77 Days Left

What an awesome, yet busy day.

Started with early AM writing, then created a Thank You card and filmed an Instagram story on my morning walk.

After that made a TON of connections for my Perfect Life Retreat, had some good meetings, and then rushed to a workout.

It went like this:

Warm-up => Had a trainer teach me some clubbell movements.

1A) Squat
1B) Box Jump

2A) Front Squat
2B) Glute Ham Raise

Tomorrow will either be a walk or mobility work.

After that I had a call with Marcus Sheridan, a very interesting guy, and connection from my friend, Carrie Wilkerson.

Then it was more meetings.

Good thing I got a lot done because my team reminded me of this today...

Deadlifts Speeches and Pizza

What a fun day it's been.

I got up early, did some writing, and then practiced my main presentation for the Perfect Life Retreat. Actually, this part of the day was not fun at all. Ha!

But when all of my work was done, I rewarded myself with a trip to a really cool gym here in Toronto called Bang Fitness. They have great trainers, and nearly a 1-to-1 person-to-squat-rack-ratio. Crazy, huh?

My sessions:

1A) Deadlift
1B) Box Jump

2A) Halt Deadlifts (1/4 of the way up)
2B) Overhead Squat

Man, it's been a long time since I did overhead squats. Just using the bar will probably leave me sore tomorrow.

Alright, off to see J-Roc and have some pizza.

I guess NOW the day is getting fun!

Rock on,

Craig

PS - I get this question all the time:

"Should I get up at the same time on weekends?"🤔

The truth is that YES you should get up at the same time everyday.

If you do, you'll have teenager-levels of all day energy every day, all day.

Slingshot Friday

This was a fun week in the big city of Toronto. On Wednesday, I was out late for a dinner and then watching the Yankees game. It was awesome to see Brett Gardner's epic 12-pitch battle that resulted in a 2-run single in the 9th.

I always cheer for the older guys in the league. :)

Thursday was an off day because I only had 4 hours sleep. The problem is that it doesn't bother me to sleep that little. And as much as I love sleep, I wish I could go without it.

Anyways, I caught up with 8 hours last night and then had another really great day today. Because of a lunch meeting, I didn't train until 2:30, which is really, really late for me.

But it was awesome, and I tried this cool powerlifting tool called "The Slingshot". It's for your bench press, and replicates training with a stretchy bench press shirt. Fun times!

1A) Bench Press
1B) Face Pull

2A) Slingshot Bench
2B) Mobility

3A) KB Overhead Press
3B) Face Pull

Tomorrow I deadlift again... in the afternoon!

Then I'll meet up with CTT, J-Roc, for some pizza and catching up on old times! On Sunday I drive home to hang with Bally the Dog.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Place a higher value on your time. Don't let others steal it away.

Remember…Every moment wasted in meetings, traffic, gossip, etc. steals minutes from your family, health, and impact.

Be ruthless with your time for the sake of your legacy.

Sleeping and Squatting

Had a great sleep last night but for some reason I didn't want to get out of bed... The only reason I didn't hit snooze and got my butt out of bed is because of ACCOUNTABILITY to YOU.

And because I did, I had an incredibly productive 90-minutes of Magic Time this morning. Thank YOU!

The good news is that I was also well rested for when I went to the gym today for a squat workout. I focused on form and speed, rather than the heaviest weight, because it had only been two days since deadlifting. But I need to take tomorrow off & wanted to do this workout before the weekend.

Fun times.

1A) Squat
1B) Box Jump

2A) Front Squat
2B) Glute-Ham Raise

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Most people choose to sit around & feel bad, but high performers like you choose to move ahead, take action & attract opportunity into life.

Benching at Bang

Hello from the land of overpriced food! (Toronto)

In my first week back in the big city I have paid comical amounts of money for bread, salad, burritos, etc.

My best meal (leg of lamb) was free over at family's. But you can't get that kind of deal every day. :)

Oh well, now that I've made a few mistakes I know where to spend my money wisely.

On the bright side I've been lucky enough to get a great deal on an awesome gym and training environment at Bang Fitness.

Today's Workout:
1A) Pushup
1B) Face Pull (light)

2A) Bench Press
2B) Pullup

3A) DB Incline
3B) Face Pull (heavy)
3C) Alligator Crawl

Followed with superexpensive homemade almond butter sandwiches on gluten-free bread. LOL. A fool and his money are soon parted! :)

Bally at the Lake and Craiggy at the Gym

Sunday was an off day and a nap day. I did a lot of work in preparation for my Perfect Life Retreat that is coming up next month.

Also was very fortunate that the gym was open today - Canadian Thanksgiving - (yes, it exists!). I went in and did some deadlifts, and even posted my deadlift on Instagram.

My workout:

1A) Hang Clean
1B) Mobility

2A) Deadlift
2B) Box Jump

3A) Glute-Ham Raise
3B) Pullup

Tomorrow we bench!

Rings and ThanksGivings

So today a guy asked me, "Do you sleep in on weekends?"

I was pretty blunt in my answer:

Beware the slippery slope of sleeping in

You can do it if you want, but understand the consequences

1) harder to fall asleep Sunday night

2) "sleep-ins" breed like rabbits ... 1 leads to 2, 2 to 4, and the next thing you know you're sleeping an extra 30 minutes later every day and you're behind and feeling anxious.

***
I did not sleep in last night even though I was up later than normal thanks to an early Ballantyne Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner. We had a huge leg of lamb and good times over at my sister's house, and Bally the Dog was well fed.

So I only got 6 hours sleep, but I also had a tremendously productive morning on a very important project, and so the sacrifice was worth it, and necessary.

And I still had a good workout:

1A) Military Press
1B) Pullup

2A) Snatch-Grip BB Row
2B) Ab Wheel

3A) Ring Row
3B) Ring Triceps Extension
3C) Ring Biceps Curls

Good times at Bang Fitness in Toronto.

I even had one of their Personal Trainers correct my form!

4-Minute Saturday Morning Special!

Enjoy & having a rocking weekend. :)

Mexican and Squats and Bally

Oh man, life is good back in the big city. Old Bally the Dog and I have been doing a few walks around Toronto, and I moved into a new apartment, and I found a killer new gym. Life is really, really good. Fortunately because Life is also really, really simple.

Last night my sister and I, and a few of our friends, took my mom out for hipster Mexican food in downtown Toronto. My old friend, and CTT, J-Roc, was there to join us.

This morning I filmed a lot of videos for the Perfect Day Formula, and then I hit the new gym, Bang Fitness, for a session.

1A) Squat
1B) Box Jump

2A) Front Squat
2B) Glute-Ham Raise

Tonight we're celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving (a little early) at my sisters because they are heading out of town for the weekend... and ol' Bally the Dog is going with them.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:

Ugh. TRUTH => I wanted to hit the snooze button today... Tired from a late night out with family and friends... BUT...

I have made a few promises to you... 1) I never, EVER hit the snooze button. ... 2) I get up at 4am every day.

And so, thanks to YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY, I stuck to my plan.

Now... If you want to get up earlier, and you need accountability, then you should check out this little Facebook group I'm a part of called the 5am success club.

It's INVITE-ONLY, and here's your invite from me... Go here to apply (don't worry, it's FREE)

=> http://www.sharran.com/5amclub/

The 5am club is led by my good friend and Perfect Life coaching client, Sharran Srivatsaa (he's a big guru in the Real Estate world, and there are a lot of RE agents in the club).

We do a little call every morning at 5am PST to get you fired up for the day. And the call - and the group - hold you accountable to getting up early.

That's it.

Free Club. Free accountability. Free motivation.

Well, it's free ... but just requires your COMMITMENT.

If you're committed to getting up early, and if you need accountability - like the accountability YOU have given me - then it's perfect for you.

See you on the calls and in the 5am FB group!

Go here to apply (don't worry, it's FREE)

=> http://www.sharran.com/5amclub/

PS - Every day a 5am club member makes NOTES on the motivation call, and yesterday, I gave the 5am presentation and she put together this awesome Note Page. Enjoy!

Bang Fitness

Interesting day.

I tried out a new gym here in Toronto and it was a lot of fun. It's called Bang Fitness, and Chris Lopez used to train a few sessions there back in the day, I think. It has more racks than you can shake a stick at. And I know because I found a stick and started shaking it at the racks. But then I got tired.

And I did this workout instead.

1A) Hang Clean
1B) Mobility

2A) Deadlift
2B) Bench Press

3A) RDL
3B) Ring Dips

Fun times!

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:

7 NOT To-Do Rules of High Performers

Everyone knows what TO DO for success, right? :)

But most high performers also need a list of NOT To Do Rules so that they stay on track every day.

As Warren Buffet says:

"The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say NO to almost everything."

Here are 7 Not To Do Rules of High Performers that make them successful.

1. Do NOT hit the snooze button

2. Do NOT check social media or email first thing in the morning

3. Do NOT gossip or argue with people at work or in the industry

4. Do NOT eat high-sugar foods, especially for breakfast or lunch when you need to be mentally sharp at work all day

5. Do NOT drink too much caffeine, especially late in the day

6. Do NOT consume excessive amounts of alcohol at night that leave you tired and groggy the next day

7. Do NOT watch television or check email late at night because this prevents you from falling asleep

If you follow these NOT to do rules, you'll keep yourself OUT of trouble and perform at a higher level every single day.

So are you with me?

Are you committed to quitting the snooze button, starting your day right, and following the high energy principles that I've laid out for you?

Good! Let's do it.

Head Cold and Apartment Time

The flight home from Seattle to Toronto went well. I've never flown that route before so it was neat. It's a little shorter of a flight than going to LA, which I do all the time.

Last night I got in to my sister's house at 8:30. The head cold wasn't bothering me too much, and I crashed hard. I slept till 5am, and that was helpful. The cold seems to be receding further today, which is surprising, because most of my colds usually last longer.

But I didn't train today (yet). I might, but I doubt it. It'll probably be a day off with a long walk taken later.

I also moved into a new apartment in Toronto, and I need to get a gym membership. I'll probably do that later today as I get some other stuff done in the neighborhood.

Tomorrow we bench!

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip is an interesting lesson...

What are the greatest accomplishments you want to achieve
in the next 20 years for each of your top values in life?

Then you see my answers to this question for what I have labeled as the four top values in everyone's life.

Value #1 – Family

For me, my greatest family value accomplishment is to find my beautiful wife and have two or more amazing children.

Now if you read that fast it might look like it says I want to have two or more wives. That is not the case. One will be enough!

As you can imagine, with this as my goal for my #1 value in life, it dictates almost every decision I make ... I travel less for business, I work less, and I don't spend my weekends hiding behind my computer.

Value #2 – Health

I want to feel like I'm 17 forever, as I do today at age 42. This drives what I eat, how much I sleep, and my commitment to daily movement.

Value #3 – Wealth

I'm aiming to add so much value to the world that I build a $10 million net worth, that will give me and my family the financial freedom for a great life, as well as the ability to donate significant amounts of money to the three causes greatest to me: Shriners Hospital, Toys for Tots, and my local hospital in Stratford, Ontario.

Value #4 – Experiences

I'm a lucky man having experienced many bucket list-style items. I no longer care about those. Instead, what matters to me, aside from family experiences, is writing 3 more books that have as big – or bigger – of an impact as my book, The Perfect Day Formula.

Those are my values. You can see how they clearly dictate what I should do with my time. I can judge the opportunities that come my way with a clear and concise yardstick.

Does a bachelor party trip for a friend fit into my schedule based on my values? No, I'm sorry. It doesn't.

Does filming a new set of exercise DVDs for my old fitness business fit in? No. Someone else can do that.

My clear and concise values dictate that I construct my day around my writing, my health, and family time.

Once you write down your values then your daily schedule will become much more clear to you.

You'll also give yourself permission to say NO without hesitation or guilt.

That's one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself in life.

Because remember...

If you want to do GREAT things, you have to do FEWER things.

You must know your values and vision so they drive all decisions in life.
