Holiday Heart Health Reading

Monday morning here in new zealnd while many of you are getting ready to watvh the superbowl on Sunday evening back in north America.

While lounging about, I just had a chance to read the latest National Geographic featuring a cover story on heart attack prevention...if you don't get a chance to read it, here are a few points you need to know...

1) Smoking can double or triple the risk of a heart attack.

2) High blood pressure triples the risk for men and doubles it for women.

3) Diabetes quadruples the risk for women and doubles it for men.

4) Abdominal obesity doubles the risk.

5) And a lack of exercise increases the risk of only 20 percent.

So as you can see, poor nutrition (and smoking) have a much greater inmpact than exercise on your risk of heart disease.

So eat well, starting today,

CB
